Vermont Public Schools: The Heart of Our Community

For generations, Vermonters have cherished and supported their local public schools. They recognize that nothing is more important to the health of our communities than a well run local community school. Through their local school boards, they debate and decide what is best for their children, their schools, and their way of life.

Our Local Public Schools

Helping Small Towns Thrive

Our local public schools are the fabric of our cities and towns. They are where generations of students have learned, played, excelled, and grown. They are filled with educators – teachers, paraeducators, food service workers, custodians, bus drivers, nurses – who commit everyday acts of excellence that nurture Vermont’s future.

We all know the most important factor in a student’s success is ensuring that every classroom has a high-quality teacher in front of the class – and the resources that fuel our students to excellence. That commitment means Vermont’s children are able to achieve great things.

Vermonters Stand Up

Vermont educators have nurtured future Emmy Award winners (Harwood’s Grace Potter), Tony Award winners (Mt Abraham’s Anais Mitchell and Harwood’s Shaina Taub), and Nobel laureate and Woodstock HS graduate Victor Ambros. While most Vermont graduates go on to lead successful lives– as plumbers, electricians, small business owners, even governors – they are all initially supported and nurtured by Vermont’s educators.

Every time Vermonters are asked if they support their local schools, they are unequivocal. From Calais to Danville to Woodstock to Springfield to St. Albans to Worcester, and everywhere in between, Vermonters cherish their local public schools.

As well they should. As centers of their communities, local public schools are as important as ever. Indeed, our local public schools – energized by everyday excellence – are Vermont’s most important resource.
